Public Health & Safety Bulletin - Notice of Voluntary Recall
JULY 24, 2024
Kelly’s Green, through internal quality control procedures, identified and reported potential
contamination associated with certain harvest batches at its facility. Upon identification of
possible mold contamination, Kelly’s Green worked diligently with the Mississippi Medical
Cannabis Program to take immediate action including additional testing of these products,
the results of which demonstrated the necessity for recall and remediation of the specified
products. In parallel, Kelly’s Green immediately initiated a rigorous, thorough investigation
into this matter. At the time these products were sold by Kelly’s Green, the company was
unaware of any possible public health concerns posed and was in possession of Certificates
of Analysis (COA) identifying the products as “Passed” from a licensed medical cannabis
testing laboratory.
Consumers who purchased a Kelly’s Green product should check the packaging for the UID
and batch numbers listed in this Notice to determine if the item is subject to the recall.
A list of recalled products can be found on the MMCP website at: Patient Purchased Recall Items. Additional products may be added to this list as retesting results become available.
The Mississippi State Department of Health Medical Cannabis Program is advising the following methods of disposal for recalled products:
Patients: Consumers should discard or return these products to the dispensary sales location for
proper disposal.
Consumers who have experienced adverse reactions after using these products should
report their symptoms and product use to their healthcare providers. Adverse effects from
product usage should also be reported to the dispensary from which the product was
purchased. Dispensaries, in turn, should utilize the adverse effect reporting tool in METRC
to convey the information into the seed-to-sale system.
Retailers: Retailers have two options for the returned product and the product in their physical
inventory: (1) discard/waste the product in accordance with applicable regulations or (2)
contact Kelly’s Green via email at redd@kellysgreen.biz and bnicholson@kellysgreen.com
for further information and/or instructions pertaining to refund or replacement of the
impacted items.
At this time, there are no known reports of illness. According to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC), most people breathe in mold spores without getting sick;
however, people with weakened immune systems or lung diseases are at a higher risk of
developing health problems due to mold inhalation.
This announcement is being made out of an abundance of caution. Patients who have purchased potentially contaminated products should not ingest, inhale, or otherwise consume them and should dispose of them as outlined above. If you have consumed any of the products and are experiencing adverse effects, please contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical care.
